An Anti-CCP test measures antibodies that target cyclic citrullinated peptides, which are commonly found in people with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). These antibodies are highly specific for RA and often appear in the early stages of the disease, even before symptoms become severe. Doctors usually recommend this test when a patient has persistent joint pain, stiffness, swelling, or when RA is suspected but not confirmed by other tests.

For the Anti-CCP test, a small blood sample is taken from a vein, and no fasting or special preparation is required. A positive Anti-CCP result strongly suggests the presence or future risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis. This test is often done along with RA Factor, ESR, and CRP to provide a clear diagnosis and guide treatment decisions.
